house icon It had been five years since I lost the first dog we adopted. I felt that she could never be replaced, but I visited the pound in Carleton Co., NB, looking for a big dog to protect me now that I live alone. There was nothing available so I went over to Houlton, ME. They did not have what I was looking for either, but they did have a family looking for a good home for a large mixed breed. I called them and we made arrangements for them to come see the home their dog would be living in. As she jumped out of the car she ran towards me and I fell in love instantly. She is beautiful and smiles all the time. The family looked around and thought I would be a good Mom to Molly. That was almost seven years ago, she was five at the time. We walked a lot on our country roads, and she even learned to love riding in the car. I am a senior and although Molly weighs about 90 pounds she is gentle, never pulls on her lead. Handling the 40 lb. bag of Pedigree Adult dry food may be a challenge for me, but Molly is patient, a lady and very gentle. Even though I am sure she would love to dive right into it she waits for me to say, "OK". She has stolen not only my heart but the hearts of the whole family. They are very pleased that I have Molly to keep me company, talk to and play with. I would never consider anything but an adoptive dog. They need homes and have so much love to give. They know when they have been rescued.
