My parents had recently divorced and I wasn't sure if I could ever be happy again. My dad was bringing me and my two brothers, Matt and Sam to my grandparents when I heard a whimpering sound. I looked in the back of the trunk and there was a dog, it was a hairless Chihuahua. My dad surprised me, I smiled and knew that she was going to make everything better. She has touched my heart ever since that day I saw her. When ever I am sad, crying or really angry, she is always there for me. She will lick my face to tell me that it is all right. She was abused for 2 years and thrown on the streets for 3 days without food or water. When I looked into her eyes the first time I could see the fear in her eyes, just like how my eyes looked when I learned about my parent's divorce. I could relate to her more then anyone in my life! She settled in to me slowly but eventually she was back to normal. I am 12 years old and my dog, Gracie is 4. I love her so much and thank the SPCA in Petawawa for giving me such a sweet dog. Ever since, whenever I have a party I ask for an admission fee around 2 to 3 dollars and donate it to the SPCA. I don't know what I would do without her!!!
